Team Work

It is important to have a strong work group and peers around in order to get tasks to efficiently and to the best of the groups ability to produce the best results. most of our jobs involve interacting with others, The need for effective teamwork is critical for any business; motivating unity within a workplace. Throughout the duration of my university degree I have been able to successfully work within a team environment, to me team work means effective communication between yourself and others, hearing one and other out and taking their ideas on board to produce the best possible work as well as being able to learn and apply others skill and evenly distribute workloads to an individuals strongest skill set.

Time Management

Working on your time management skills is vital if you want to advance your career in the long term.

 

University has taught me the core essence of time management. Due deadlines and handing in numerous amount of coursework within a limited time frame because of this I can develop clear, definable systems that will work to keep you on track and work to deadlines effectively and efficiently, as well as being able to simultaneously juggle workloads and multiple deadlines at once, all in which can be transferred and applied to any workplace or given piece of work.

Comminication

Communication skills are critical to the job as Digital Creators and Designers communicate ideas through text and image. My Degree has taught me to communicate with businesses the be able to create the idea and message desired from me for them and even my team mates in terms of groups projects in order to covey the same message throughout our work and workflow. Designers have to articulate ideas to companies, clients, employers often presented in forms of public speaking skills for presentations and writing skills for proposals as well as being able yo work remotely online by communicating with clients and employers by phone, email, and sometimes through Skype in order to understand their wants and needs; all by which I have already experience and implemented into my work ethos; by working with external companies and course mates.

Networking

Networking allows creatives to prosper by approaching other designers to collab with or for individuals to find about your to creative services, opening you up to a multitude of freelance opportunities. Throughout my time at university I have had the opportunity to network with individuals within my class and even businesses and organisations in order to get my name and there and for them to see my skill set. Networking is important as it can follow you and benefit you in any industry, especially in the digital content creator by building a clientele.

Presentation skills are important to a Digital Creator, especially when having to present an idea or concept to a client or organisation.

Branding

Designing the part of products that people interact with is increasingly in-demand among employers. Data has become central to many products, which has created a need for people with user interface design skills. Being a digital creator this is a great additional skill to hone as the digital flow of online sites are in demand. Luckily for me; being a Digital media student I have been given the chance to hone such a skill set by designing the layout and flow of websites and apps to the industry standard. I have displayed such skills be designing my final major project cooking application 'Spiced Up' and creating numerous sites as part of transmedia projects that are displayed throughout this portfolio.

Animation

Animation is a great multimedia skill to be desired of a Digital Creator, an is often something that is desired by a client and an employer. This is a great skill to have as it shows that i am multifaceted in different areas of being a digital creator making me more desirable to an employer of potential client.

Creative Thinking

Digital Creators need to be very creative with their thinking in order to come up with innovative ideas and new and fresh content and designs in order to generate solutions for their clients through creative means. As my course is very creative it has given be the outlet and the freedom to b e as creative as i want to in order to create content. I have had the chance to work create interactive stories and even showcase story telling through VR as well as coming up with creative ways to showcase my work.

Adobe Suites

Having the knowledge of being able to work your way around Adobe Cloud and experience suites such as Photoshop, Premier Pro and Indesign is a great skill set to have under your belt especially if you want to be a digital creator or in the creative sector as it is mainly an essential requirement for many jobs roles in industry. I have experience in PremierPro, Photoshop, Indesign, Aftereffects and Animate. The ability to create, design, manipulate and edit creates valuable lead opportunities; the ability to do so yourself instead of employing others is create and allows you to work creatives in a company or freelance. Using these suites have given be the chance to create design pieces to aid in my course work.
